Creme Egg Filled Brownie Mug Cake Thing March 2, 2013
So Easter is just around the corner and there are rows upon rows of Easter themed candies in the markets now. I decided to pick up some mini creme eggs for old times sake. I used to eat these all the time as a child and I have now noticed that there are many different filled versions as well. I bought the fondant filled and caramel filled ones.
Reblog: Is Tea the new coffee?? March 1, 2013
I am a coffee drinker and a coffee snob; I admit that and I own it. But unlike some die hard coffee drinkers, I like tea too. When counting calories, Weight Watcher points, or I just want to relax, I enjoy a nice cup of Celestial Seasonings: Sleepytime Tea (This sounds like a commercial or product placement—but I really do hoard this stuff and I buy it with my own loot). I LOVE this stuff! I keep it stocked at home and also keep the grape flavor on hand when my nephew comes to visit and Aunt Keshia has had fun for the day. It is soothing and relaxing and with a sprinkle of no calorie sweetener it’s like hot grape kool-aid to him Being a Southern lady I also enjoy a iced tea…so in short, I like coffee, I like tea…nade na na (I couldn’t help myself).
Anyway here is the reblog portion of this post from the fit ladies over at Black Girls Run…enjoy!
There’s no question that coffee trumps tea in the United States, but recent studies are causing coffee drinkers to think twice about which morning brew is better for their health. The Tea Association of the USA, a New York-based industry group, says consumer tea purchases have increased for 20 consecutive years and retail supermarket sales have surpassed $2.2 billion. But what exactly are the health benefits? ***click here to read more***
It’s that time again! I get a chance to share with you one of my favorite blogs. Today’s spotlight is on Carrots ‘N’ Cake.
CNC has become my go to for workouts and recipes. She has rekindled my love for cooking with fresh vegetables and made me fall in love with brussel sprouts. I generally eat healthy but this blog gives me tons of great ideas and I enjoy reading her stories and the fact she posts her and Mal’s (her hubbs) grocery list. Mal and her seem to have a great time and he does not seem to mind that she documents so much of their life on the blog. Tina has the great ability in her writing to make everyone feel welcome. She writes about family; but it’s not all my husband this, and my husband and I that. I appreciate that. She shows that there is more to life than OMG, I’m married! I have stopped following several blogs because of that reason…as a habitually single girl…that gets annoying quick. Don’t think I’m all bitter and stuff but seriously, it’s annoying. As I always say, “Seinfeld relates to life in so many ways” check out this video, Elaine runs into a similar issue.
Anyway, back to the blog. Another great thing about the blog is that she incorporates a great deal about Murphy. Murphy is her much loved pug. Like me, Tina loves her pup and I enjoy seeing what Murphy gets into next. I like to think that he and Andy are distant friends
Check out Tina, Murphy and Mal at Carrots ‘N’ Cake
THOUSANDS of African American women NATIONWIDE are dropping everything and walking for 100 MINUTES – in their communities, wherever they are – starting EXACTLY at 4:30pm EST on SUNDAY, March 10th – as a “MOVING TRIBUTE” – to commemorate Harriet Tubman exactly 100 years after her death.
There. I did it. I tried for a whole week and boy, was it the longest week EVER!! I joined three websites: OKCupid, JDate, & eHarmony…all three were a bust. Perhaps it is just me but the responses I got were…well…umm, yeah, no thank you.
It is bizarre to me at 40 years old men do not have their stuff together and of course those are the ones I attract. I am thrilled I did not devote too much to this process and not I can say, I did it.
Just to give you some idea of the stats
Guy A: Divorced, 42, frozen foods manager at a grocery store (is that even a thing, frozen food manager?!?!) his goal was to be the store manager–I guess by the time he was 50.
Guy B: Single, three kids, 41, claims his whole world revolves around his kids and sport (um, where would I fit in that equation?), loved sci-fi and graphic novels (this to me equals porn), works as an entrepreneur (um…unemployed)
Guy C: Single, wants kids, 38, likes quiet nights in except for the Friday nights when he and his date MUST hang out with his friends at a certain restaurant in the mall. (I can’t make this up people!!)
This is just a sample of the unbelievable shit that is my life. I know cursing is bad–dude, whatever; sometimes you just need to let it rip. All together now SHIIIT!
One thing that was really cool (well at least cool to me) I love playing with numbers and making them fit somewhere…in other words statistical analysis (and you wonder why I am single). Any who, based on the questions I answered at OkCupid, I got this lovely little chart letting me know the best and worst states and countries for me to find love. Guess what? I copied it just to share with you all
